About the Salzburg Global Asia Policy Leadership Forum (APLF) 2026

The Asia Policy Leadership Forum (APLF) 2026 is designed for a cohort of 35–45 emerging leaders from Asia. Themed “Leadership in a Digital Age: Technology, Society, and Governance in Asia,” the forum focuses on equipping participants with the knowledge, networks, and leadership tools needed to drive inclusive, tech-enabled governance and innovation in their respective countries.


Programme Focus

The 2026 forum will explore the intersection between digital transformation, public policy, and inclusive growth. Thematic priorities include:

  • Digital public infrastructure and inclusive innovation
  • Data governance, privacy, and cross-border digital policy
  • Technology-policy ecosystems connecting government, private sector, academia, and civil society

Through this lens, the programme will empower participants to navigate and influence how technology shapes society, governance, and sustainable development in Asia.


Programme Format and Duration

The Asia Policy Leadership Forum (APLF) 2026 is a year-long engagement featuring both virtual and in-person components:

  • Online onboarding workshops and virtual networking sessions
  • Mentorship and continuous peer engagement throughout the year
  • In-person convening in Salzburg, Austria (5–10 May 2026) – a six-day immersive experience at the historic Schloss Leopoldskron, bringing participants together for deep dialogue, collaboration, and learning

Please note: The in-person phase is mandatory and will not be offered virtually.


Cost and Financial Support

There is no fee to apply or participate in the Asia Policy Leadership Forum (APLF) 2026.

  • Accommodation and meals during the Salzburg convening are fully covered.
  • Limited travel support may be available for selected participants who demonstrate financial need.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Asia Policy Leadership Forum (APLF) 2026, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be citizens of or working in one of the following jurisdictions:
    Japan, Hong Kong SAR, India, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, or Taiwan.
  • Be early- to mid-career professionals (approximately 5–10 years of experience) working in government, civil society, academia, or the private sector.
  • Have a track record of meaningful impact in areas related to technology, governance, and society.
  • Applicants from under-represented and historically marginalised groups within the technology and policy ecosystem are strongly encouraged to apply.
