Are you a researcher working to understand how children learn across different environments and populations? The 2025 Call for Proposals: LEVANTE (Learning Variability Network Exchange) is now open! This prestigious opportunity, supported by the Jacobs Foundation, offers up to $1 million USD per project to fund innovative, longitudinal research on learning variability in children aged 5–12.

The 2025 Call for Proposals: LEVANTE (Learning Variability Network Exchange) invites global researchers to contribute to one of the most ambitious and impactful educational research initiatives of the decade.

About the LEVANTE Network

LEVANTE is a global research initiative designed to better understand learning variability—the way children differ in learning across time, groups, and contexts. Supported by the Jacobs Foundation, the network harmonises high-quality longitudinal data across multiple sites to help build inclusive and responsive education systems.

LEVANTE research focuses on:

  • Within-child variability – how learning and behaviour change over time
  • Within-group variability – differences across classrooms, peer groups, or local contexts
  • Contextual variability – how environment and culture influence learning outcomes

What the 2025 Call for Proposals Offers

This call supports both small and large-scale projects over a minimum of four years. Funding is available for:

  • Small projects: up to $600,000 USD
  • Large projects: up to $1,000,000 USD

Projects must integrate the LEVANTE core measures and commit to open science practices. Funding covers a wide range of research activities including:

  • High-density, multimodal data collection
  • Adaptation and translation of LEVANTE measures
  • Expansion into underrepresented populations or regions
  • Integration with ongoing longitudinal studies
