About the Africa CDC Youth Digital Health Champions Program 2025

The Youth Digital Health Champions (YDH-C) Program is designed to foster youth-driven innovation and leadership in digital health. It provides a platform for capacity building in digital literacy, governance, and policy engagement, while spotlighting young champions who are shaping Africa’s health future.

Selected champions will join a vibrant network of peers, gain exposure across Africa CDC platforms, and contribute to strategic dialogues and initiatives that accelerate digital health transformation in Africa.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Africa CDC Youth Digital Health Champions Program 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Age: Between 18 and 35 years at the time of application.
  • Nationality: Citizens of African Union Member States; Africans in the diaspora are also eligible.
  • Language: Proficiency in at least one of English, French, Arabic, or Portuguese (cross-lingual skills are an added advantage).
  • Engagement: Active involvement in one or more of the following digital health areas:
    • Innovation and entrepreneurship (e.g., startups, app development)
    • Research and academia
    • Public health initiatives using digital tools
    • Policy advocacy and development
    • Capacity building and digital literacy projects

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated on three main criteria:

  1. Leadership & Initiative (45%) – Demonstrated leadership experience, resilience, and active engagement in YiDHN’s focus areas.
  2. Impact & Innovation (25%) – Evidence of tangible achievements or innovative contributions to digital health.
  3. Motivation & Potential (30%) – Strong interest and readiness to engage in YiDHN activities such as webinars, capacity-building, and policy discussions.

  • A completed application form.
  • A CV or résumé (maximum 2 pages).
  • One letter of recommendation.
  • Optional: links to published work, projects, or media features that highlight their contribution to digital health.
