The EALS Training for Public Interest Lawyers 2025 provides a platform for early-career lawyers to enhance their expertise in a fast-evolving digital legal landscape while fostering cross-border collaboration among legal professionals from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda.


Programme Overview

This intensive, week-long training offers participants the tools and insights necessary to lead regional conversations on:

  • Legal frameworks for emerging technologies

Location: Kampala, Uganda
Dates: July 2–4, 2025
Host: East Africa Law Society (EALS Institute)

Participants will also benefit from earning Continuing Legal Education (CLE) / Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits as approved by their respective national bar associations.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the programme, applicants must meet the following:

  • Age: Between 25–35 years old (as of June 1, 2025)
  • Profession: Practicing advocate in one of the following countries:
    • Uganda
    • Kenya
    • Tanzania (including Zanzibar)
    • Rwanda
  • Language Proficiency: Strong command of English
  • Commitment: Full participation in all training sessions
  • Interest Area: Demonstrated engagement or interest in digital rights, AI regulation, and public interest litigation
