About the CCAC Food and Nutrition Challenge 2025

The CCAC Food and Nutrition Challenge 2025 focuses on supporting projects that reduce super pollutants like methane and black carbon through interventions in food systems. The ultimate goal is to lower emissions by addressing food loss and waste while also reducing malnutrition globally.

CCAC emphasizes integrated, collaborative action and is looking for proposals that combine scientific innovation, cross-sectoral cooperation, and scalable interventions that can be implemented in low- and middle-income countries.


Objectives of the Challenge

Proposals submitted under this call should:

  • Propose scalable solutions to reduce food loss and waste
  • Target reduction of super pollutants such as methane and black carbon
  • Improve nutrition and food security
  • Demonstrate strong cross-sectoral collaboration (NGOs, governments, private sector, academia)

Successful projects will show how reducing waste in food systems directly contributes to improved environmental outcomes and better health for communities.


Funding and Eligibility

  • Funding Size: Up to USD $2 million per project
  • Eligible Applicants:
    • Non-profit organizations
    • Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs)
    • Government agencies
  • Ineligible: For-profit companies

Proposals from consortia involving multiple partners are strongly encouraged, especially those combining public, private, and research sector actors.


Geographical Focus

This is a global call, with special attention to projects in:

  • Iraq
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Morocco
    However, strong proposals from other countries are equally welcome. The key is that the project addresses the dual goals of climate and nutrition impacts in meaningful, measurable ways.
