    The UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development 2025–2026 is now open for nominations. With a total prize of USD $300,000, this biennial award recognises innovative practices that improve the effectiveness of teachers worldwide. If your organisation is working to enhance teaching and learning systems, this is a unique opportunity to gain global recognition and funding support.

    Awarded every two years since its establishment in 2008, the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education. The prize is generously supported by the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance.


    Why Apply for the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development 2025–2026?

    Three organisations or institutions will each receive USD $100,000, in addition to international recognition for their outstanding efforts in improving teaching and learning. The winners will also be celebrated at a global stage during the official UNESCO World Teachers’ Day ceremony on 5 October 2026 in Paris.

    This is an exceptional platform to spotlight innovative models, scale proven solutions, and influence education policy through evidence-based interventions.


    Who is Eligible?

    The UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development 2025–2026 is open to:

    • Non-profit organisations
    • Educational and research institutions
    • National or international non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
    • Government-affiliated or independent institutions working in education

    Please note:

    • Individuals are not eligible.
    • Self-nominations are not allowed.
    • Each nominating entity may submit up to five nominations.

    Nominations must be submitted by a National Commission for UNESCO or a UNESCO-affiliated NGO in official partnership.
