About the WAAW Foundation Scholarship 2025–2026
The WAAW Foundation Scholarship 2025–2026 is a merit- and need-based initiative by the Working to Advance STEM Education for African Women (WAAW) Foundation. The programme is designed to support female students of African origin who demonstrate outstanding academic performance, leadership potential, and financial need.
Scholars are expected to contribute to their communities and promote STEM education among young girls in Africa, aligning with the foundation’s mission of empowering African women to become technology innovators and leaders.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Must be a female student of African origin, living and studying in Africa.
- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree programme at an accredited African university or college.
- Must be pursuing a STEM-related course (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
- Must be in their first or second year, or third year if enrolled in a five-year course.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must possess an excellent academic record.
- Must show evidence of leadership experience, community service, or volunteer work.
- Must be below 32 years of age at the time of application.
Scholarship Benefits
- Successful applicants will receive a one-time award of USD 500 to support their academic expenses.
- Scholars gain recognition and access to the WAAW Foundation’s growing network of female STEM professionals and mentors across Africa.
Application Process
The application process for the WAAW Foundation Scholarship 2025–2026 consists of several stages:
- Personal Information: Applicants must provide complete personal details.
- Education Background: Include academic history and current course details.
- Essay Submission: Candidates will write essays that demonstrate their passion for STEM, leadership potential, and community engagement.
- Recommendation Letters: Two academic reference letters are required from professors or lecturers familiar with the applicant’s academic and leadership performance.
