    The Code for Africa (CfA) – African Academy for Open Source Investigation (AAOSI) Fellowships 2025 is now open for applications! This prestigious four-month fellowship offers journalists in Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal a rare opportunity to receive hands-on training, mentorship, and publishing support in open-source intelligence (OSINT) and social-media forensics (SOCMINT) — empowering them to combat misinformation and uncover truth in the digital age.


    About the Fellowship

    The AAOSI Fellowship 2025 is a unique initiative by Code for Africa (CfA) designed to strengthen investigative journalism and evidence-based storytelling across the African continent. The programme equips selected fellows with in-depth skills in:

    • Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT)
    • Social Media Forensics (SOCMINT)
    • Investigating information manipulation
    • Analysing coordinated inauthentic behaviour

    Through this immersive learning experience, journalists will gain both technical expertise and editorial support to produce impactful, data-driven investigations that matter.


    Programme Duration

    The fellowship will run for a period of four (4) months. During this time, participants will take part in:

    • Weekly online training sessions
    • One-on-one mentorship with data technologists, analysts, and multimedia producers at Code for Africa (CfA)
    • Collaboration with editors to refine and publish original investigative pieces

    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for the Code for Africa (CfA) – African Academy for Open Source Investigation (AAOSI) Fellowships 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Be based in Côte d’Ivoire or Senegal.
    • Be affiliated with a registered media house, digital news outlet, CSO, or NGO focusing on African audiences.
    • Have at least one year of experience in journalism or research (preferably in investigative or data journalism).
    • Provide proof of a recently published work (within the past two months).
    • Demonstrate fluency in English or French.
    • Commit to attending weekly online sessions, timely progress communication, and public publishing of investigative content.
    • Ensure that their affiliated organisation is willing to publish evidence-based outputs developed during the fellowship.

    Note: Female journalists are strongly encouraged to apply.
