The UNEP Young Champions of the Earth 2026 is a global award designed to recognise young changemakers who demonstrate creativity, courage, and commitment in tackling environmental challenges. Through this annual competition, UNEP aims to amplify the voices of young environmental leaders and support them with resources to scale their impact.

Organised by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in partnership with Planet A, this initiative highlights young individuals whose innovative ideas are driving environmental sustainability across communities worldwide.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the UNEP Young Champions of the Earth 2026, applicants must:

  • Be aged between 18 and 30 years by 31 December 2026.
  • Have at least six months of proven experience working on an environmental project or initiative.
  • Submit only one entry per application cycle.
  • Demonstrate innovation, leadership, and measurable environmental impact.
  • Note: Staff members of UNEP, Planet A, and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply.
