The Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement 2027 stands as one of the world’s most distinguished honours in the field of environmental science and sustainability. Often regarded as the “Green Nobel Prize”, it recognises individuals and organisations that have made exceptional and lasting contributions to protecting and understanding the environment.

This prestigious award celebrates innovation, scientific excellence, and impactful environmental leadership that drives global progress toward a sustainable future.

About the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement 2027

Established to acknowledge outstanding environmental accomplishments, the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement 2027 honours contributions that have profoundly improved environmental conditions, influenced policies, and inspired transformative global change.

Winners of the Tyler Prize are environmental pioneers whose work bridges science, policy, and public awareness — ensuring real-world solutions to the planet’s most pressing challenges, including biodiversity loss, climate change, pollution, and sustainable energy development.

    Award Value

The award comes with a cash prize of USD 250,000, along with a gold medallion and official plaque presented at a formal ceremony.

Recipients join a distinguished network of global environmental leaders recognised for their scientific rigour, innovative solutions, and sustainable impact.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Key eligibility notes:

    • Self-nominations are not accepted. All nominations must be made by a third party.
    • Nominees may come from any country or discipline, provided their work contributes to environmental advancement.

    Selection Criteria

Nominees for the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement 2027 are evaluated on the following grounds:

    • Strong scientific foundation (in natural or social sciences)
    • Measurable, scalable impacts on environmental policy, practice, or innovation
    • Global relevance and contribution to sustainable environmental solutions
    • Engagement with younger generations and future environmental leaders
    • Consideration of diversity, equity, and environmental justice in their work

These criteria ensure that awardees embody both excellence and inclusivity in environmental achievement.

    Nomination Process

    All nominations must include:

    1. Full details of both nominee and nominator
    2. A 1–2 page summary highlighting the nominee’s most significant environmental contributions
    3. A short CV (for individuals) or organisation profile (for groups)
    4. Contact details for at least two references
    5. All documents must be compiled into a single PDF or Word file, labelled with the nominee’s name and year of nomination

Only complete nominations submitted before the deadline will be considered.

    Deadline

All nominations for the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement 2027 must be submitted by 15 May 2026. Late entries will not be accepted.
