Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

- Be an early-career scientist from a country in Latin America or the Caribbean
- Hold a graduate degree (MSc or PhD) obtained within the last five (5) years
- Be living and working in the region
- Demonstrate strong collaboration with local communities and institutions
Not Eligible
- Currently enrolled students are not eligible for this grant (student applicants are encouraged to explore other AOS student funding opportunities).
AOS Membership Requirement
- Applicants must be current members of the American Ornithological Society (AOS).
- Applicants who are not members at the time of application must be willing to join.
- A temporary complimentary membership may be available for applicants facing financial hardship.
Language of Application
- Proposals may be submitted in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French.
- All applications must include an abstract written in English.
Eligible Use of Grant Funds
Grant funds may be used for:
- Fieldwork expenses
- Research equipment and supplies
- Research-related travel and living expenses
- Direct costs essential to the proposed conservation research
Ineligible Expenses
Grant funds cannot be used for:
- Travel to conferences or meetings
- Publication or journal fees
