Eligible Applicants

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen
  • Must have a strong academic or professional background
  • Must demonstrate a clear interest in China or China-related research or studies
  • Must be available to reside in China during the 2026–2027 academic year
  • Must meet language requirements, where applicable:
    • HSK Level 3 for undergraduate studies conducted in Chinese
    • HSK Level 4 for graduate programmes conducted in Chinese

Programme Categories and Duration

The duration of the scholarship depends on the applicant category:

  • Faculty, researchers, and mid-career professionals: 1 to 12 months

Scholarship Benefits

From the Chinese Government Scholarship:

  • Full tuition coverage at participating Chinese institutions
  • Monthly living allowance:
    • ¥2,500 for undergraduate students
    • ¥3,000 for Master’s students and general scholars
    • ¥3,500 for doctoral and senior scholars
  • On-campus accommodation or a housing subsidy
  • Comprehensive medical insurance during the programme period

From Global Affairs Canada:

  • Round-trip international travel between Canada and China

Application Process

Applicants are required to complete two separate applications:

  1. My EduCanada Portal Application
    • Deadline: 12 January 2026
  2. China Scholarship Council (CSC) Portal Application
    • Deadline: 1 March 2026

Both applications must be completed to be considered for the scholarship.
