The Generation Leadership Academy – Cohort 5 is now open for applications! Organized by Citizen Voice and Actions (CVA), a youth-led organization based in Rwanda, the academy focuses on developing a new generation of confident, informed, and responsible leaders who are ready to participate actively in decision-making and governance processes.


About the Generation Leadership Academy

The Generation Leadership Academy is an annual leadership development initiative aimed at nurturing youth potential through mentorship, skill-building, and civic engagement. Since its inception, the program has built a strong reputation for empowering young leaders to take on impactful roles in civil society, public administration, and community development.

Cohort 5 continues this tradition by offering participants an immersive learning experience that combines theoretical insights with practical leadership training, peer learning, and personal development sessions.


Objectives of the Programme

The Generation Leadership Academy seeks to:

  • Build leadership capacities among young Rwandans.
  • Promote civic responsibility and good governance.
  • Strengthen youth engagement in community and national development.

Programme Structure

Cohort 5 of the Generation Leadership Academy is a two-week intensive mentoring programme that includes:

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the Generation Leadership Academy – Cohort 5:

  • Be a Rwandan youth aged between 18 and 26 years.
  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to leadership, youth engagement, and good governance.
  • Be a university student or hold at least an A1 certificate or a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Be affiliated with a civil society organization, youth structure, or community initiative (preferred).
  • Be willing and available to attend the full duration of the Academy, including the residential camp.
