The Call for Applications: Dr. Fola Aina Fellowship for Next-Gen Leaders 2026 (Cohort 2) is now open for young Nigerians passionate about leadership, nation-building, and positive social impact. This prestigious fellowship offers a structured leadership development experience designed to empower the next generation of leaders across business, social development, and governance.
The fellowship is organized to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, mentorship, and networks required to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s growth, peace, and institutional development.
About the Dr. Fola Aina Fellowship
The Dr. Fola Aina Fellowship for Next-Gen Leaders is a leadership and mentorship programme created to nurture emerging leaders in Nigeria. The fellowship focuses on developing individuals who demonstrate strong leadership potential and a commitment to improving governance, strengthening institutions, and promoting sustainable development within their communities and sectors.
Fellowship Themes
Selected fellows will participate in a six-week leadership development programme focused on one of the following thematic areas:
- Leadership in Business
- Leadership in Social Development
- Leadership in Governance
Each track is designed to provide both theoretical and practical leadership exposure relevant to the chosen sector.
Programme Structure and Benefits
Successful applicants will benefit from the following components:
- A six-week leadership development experience focused on leadership skills, civic responsibility, and nation-building
- Participation in the Dr. Fola Aina Annual Colloquium on Youth, Leadership, and Nation-Building, to be held in Abuja, Nigeria
- Opportunities for networking with leaders and professionals across multiple sectors
- Volunteering placements with partner organizations to gain hands-on leadership experience
- Inclusion in a growing alumni network of young Nigerian leaders driving change across various industries
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Must be a Nigerian citizen
- Must have resided in Nigeria for at least six months prior to applying
- Must be between 21 and 35 years old
- Exceptional candidates aged 18–21 may also be considered
- Must be fluent in English
- Must not be an employee or immediate family member of anyone at the Triola Aina Foundation
- Must not be a previous alumnus of the Dr. Fola Aina Fellowship
- Must be able to commit approximately three hours per week throughout the fellowship duration
Duration and Time Commitment
- Programme Duration: Six weeks
- Weekly Commitment: Approximately three hours per week
Participants are expected to fully engage in all fellowship activities, including learning sessions, volunteering, and events.
