Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2025-2026 at AUB, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of an African country or a refugee living on the African continent.
  • Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application.
  • Hold a strong academic record relevant to one of the listed PhD fields.
  • Demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to giving back to their community, country, or region.
  • Meet the English language proficiency requirement through one of the following recognised tests:
    • AUB-EN
    • TOEFL iBT
    • IELTS Academic
    • GRE Verbal
    • GMAT Verbal
    • Duolingo English Test

Application Process

Interested candidates must complete the AUB online graduate application and indicate their interest in the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program by selecting it under the “Financial Opportunities” section.
