Through this funded fellowship, selected PhD students will spend time at the University of Johannesburg, engaging in courses, seminars, and mentorship sessions that enrich their academic work and research networks.

Eligibility Criteria

- Have completed at least the first year of PhD studies by December 2025.
- Hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in relevant disciplines such as:
- Economics
- Sociology
- Political Science
- Science & Technology Policy
- Geography
- History
- Development Studies
- Or STEM fields approached from a social science perspective.
- Possess strong English proficiency (proof may be requested).
Required Application Documents
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- Brief application letter (1 page / ~500 words) detailing background, motivation, and expected outcomes.
- Outline of current PhD project (maximum 5 pages), including a personal training plan.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) listing PhD courses completed to date.
- Letter of support from your main PhD supervisor confirming your progress (e.g., probation/upgrade status).
- Letter of support from your university administration.
- Copies of academic certificates (Bachelor’s and Master’s at minimum).
