The Solitude Fellowships 2026–2028, offered by Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, Germany, provide international artists, researchers, and cultural professionals with a six- or nine-month funded residency to pursue independent work, collaborate, and exchange ideas in a multidisciplinary community.


About the Fellowship

The Solitude Fellowship program offers residents the space and resources for concentrated work, interdisciplinary exchange, and international networking. It supports an open, diverse, and globally connected cultural landscape in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Fellows may also collaborate with cultural institutions in Stuttgart and its region.


Benefits

Selected fellows receive:

  • A 6- or 9-month residency in Stuttgart.
  • A monthly stipend of €1,300.
  • A furnished live/work studio, including utilities.
  • A one-time travel allowance for arrival and departure.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Have 2 to 10 years of independent practice after completing formal training (no age limit).
  • Collectives of up to two people can apply, provided they’ve collaborated for at least two years.
  • Not eligible:
    • Applicants still in training or studies (except PhD candidates).
    • Those holding a permanent professorship.
  • Working languages: German and/or English (house language: English).
