About the PMI Educational Foundation Grants 2025
The PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF) supports nonprofit organisations that serve youth by helping them integrate project management skills into their educational or developmental programmes. These grants are designed to:
- Support curriculum development or integration of project management principles into existing youth programmes.
- Expand project management-related course offerings for young people aged 14 to 24.
- Build organisational capacity to deliver more impactful and sustainable youth programmes.
- Encourage innovative delivery models, including project-based learning.
- Evaluate programme effectiveness and ensure long-term impact beyond the grant period.
In addition to funding, selected grantees may receive training, coaching, and volunteer support from PMIEF to ensure successful programme implementation.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the PMI Educational Foundation Grants 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Target Group: Programmes must primarily serve youth between the ages of 14 and 24, focusing on areas such as leadership, entrepreneurship, skill-building, financial literacy, and project-based learning.
- Organisation Type: Applicants must be recognised as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the U.S. or an international equivalent.
- Inclusion Policy: Organisations must be non-discriminatory and inclusive of all individuals regardless of race, religion, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, or disability.
- Collaboration: Must demonstrate willingness to collaborate with PMIEF, including engaging in training, mentorship, and programme refinement.
Focus Areas and Grant Objectives
Proposals submitted under the PMI Educational Foundation Grants 2025 should address one or more of the following goals:
- Introduce project management as a life skill for youth.
- Advance understanding and application of project management, particularly in underrepresented communities.
- Raise global awareness of project management as a key professional and personal development skill.
- Promote innovation in project management education and delivery.
- Include measurable outcomes and a clear plan for sustainability beyond the funding period.
Application Process
Step 1: Submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI)
Applicants must begin by submitting a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) via PMIEF’s application portal. The LOI serves as an initial concept note and should include the following details:
- Organisation Contact Information – Names, emails, and phone numbers of key staff.
- Organisation Overview – Mission, background, and experience serving youth.
- Project Summary – Clear description of the proposed project, objectives, and alignment with PMIEF goals.
- Anticipated Outcomes – Include the estimated number of youth to be reached (“enabled”), specifying the country of reach and their level of engagement.
- Professional Development Needs – Outline staff training or capacity-building plans.
- Impact Measurement Plan – Describe how programme success will be evaluated.
- Challenges and Mitigation Strategies – Identify potential risks and your approach to overcoming them.
- Partnerships – Mention any collaborating organisations or partners.
- Budget Summary – Provide an estimated budget with projected outcomes.
Levels of Youth Enablement
PMIEF defines “enablement” as any verifiable learning experience that allows youth to gain or apply project management knowledge. There are three levels of enablement:
Level | Description |
---|---|
Level 1: Exposure (Introductory) | Introduces young people to the basics of project management and its real-world applications. |
Level 2: Use Cases / Moderate | Participants practise project management concepts through guided activities and simulated exercises. |
Level 3: Application (Advanced) | Youth apply project management skills independently to implement real projects. |
Applicants are encouraged to design programmes that guide participants progressively through these levels.
Evaluation and Sustainability
Successful proposals must clearly demonstrate how the programme’s impact will be measured and how it will remain sustainable after the grant period. Indicators should be specific, measurable, and tied to programme outcomes, such as improved employability, leadership growth, or enhanced project execution capacity.
Grant Timeline
- Application Deadline: 31 December 2025
