  • All PIs must hold a faculty affiliation at a Canadian university.
  • The proposal should demonstrate strong interdisciplinary collaboration, ideally involving both SSH and technical AI researchers.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following key factors:

  1. Originality and Significance (25%) – The novelty and importance of the research question or approach.
  2. Potential Societal Impact (35%) – The extent to which the project can inform policy, ethics, or social outcomes related to AI.
  3. Research Excellence (15%) – The academic and research strengths of the applicants.
  4. Feasibility (15%) – A clear and achievable plan, including realistic timelines and resource allocation.
  5. Multidisciplinarity (10%) – The integration of SSH and technical disciplines to create a holistic research perspective.
