Are you a student passionate about journalism, data, storytelling, or digital media? The Dow Jones News Fund Internship Program 2026 is now open for applications, offering students the opportunity to gain world-class newsroom experience while receiving professional training and competitive pay.
This programme equips the next generation of journalists with the skills, knowledge, and connections they need to thrive in the industry.
Internship Duration and Structure
Selected interns will participate in a one-week training program before beginning their 10 to 12-week internship placements at leading news organisations. This training is designed to prepare participants for their newsroom assignments.
Stipend and Salary
Interns will receive a weekly salary starting at $525, ensuring financial support while gaining invaluable experience.
Internship Tracks
Applicants may choose from one of the following specialised tracks:
- Audience Engagement – Focused on social media, video, newsletters, and other digital engagement platforms.
- Business Reporting – Covering stories on markets, new businesses, climate, and financial trends.
- Data Journalism – Analysing and visualising data, investigative reporting, and data-driven storytelling.
- Digital Media – Multimedia storytelling across print, video, audio, and online platforms.
- Multiplatform Editing – Editing content across platforms, writing headlines, and page layout.
Eligibility Criteria
The programme is open to:
- College sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students enrolled full-time as of November 5, 2025.
- December 2025 graduates are also eligible.
- U.S. students studying abroad and international students studying in the U.S. with valid work visas.
Not eligible: Professionals with one year or more of full-time staff experience in journalism.
Application Requirements
Applicants must prepare and submit the following:
- Résumé
- Unofficial transcript (graduate students must also include their undergraduate transcript)
- 500-word essay: “What was the most impactful thing you did as a journalist in the past year?” – This can include classwork, published content, social media impact, or other meaningful contributions.
- 3-5 samples of work combined into a single PDF/Word file:
- Data journalism applicants may include code and data visualisations.
- Other tracks may provide links to published content, multimedia, or digital projects.
