Are you a young Canadian passionate about global health, international policy, and youth engagement? Applications are now open for the Canadian Youth Delegate for Global Health Program 2026, offering young professionals and students the opportunity to represent Canadian youth voices in international health governance.

This programme is a unique platform to gain first-hand experience in diplomacy, contribute to Canada’s global health agenda, and engage with international organisations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), and the United Nations (UN).

The Canadian Youth Delegate for Global Health Program 2026 ensures that youth perspectives are included in Canada’s preparations and participation in key global health meetings, strengthening both policy and practice at home and abroad.


Programme Overview

Delegates will actively contribute to Canada’s global health presence by participating in high-level international forums, including:

  • The WHO Executive Board
  • The World Health Assembly (WHA)
  • The PAHO Directing Council and Executive Committee
  • The UN General Assembly High-Level Meetings

Delegates advise on policy positions, provide youth insights, and help ensure Canada’s international health engagement reflects diverse perspectives.


Financial Support

Selected youth delegates will receive full financial support for participation. While delegates may initially cover some expenses, the programme guarantees reimbursement of all travel, accommodation, and per diem costs.


Eligibility Criteria

To apply for this prestigious role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Canadian citizen with a valid Canadian passport
  • Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application
  • Be a student or young professional in health sciences, clinical care, or global/public health

Selection and Evaluation

Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • Completeness and quality of submitted materials
  • Relevant experience in global health, health policy, governance, or diplomacy
  • Active involvement in youth engagement or networks
  • Understanding of global health policy, including the UN, WHO, and PAHO structures
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is highly preferred

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following:

  1. A completed online application form
  2. An up-to-date CV
  3. Two recommendation letters (maximum one page each):
    • One from a professional referee
    • One from a peer referee
