About the AMWAJ Fellowship Programme for Journalists 2025

The AMWAJ Fellowship Programme for Journalists 2025 is designed to support early-career journalists in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean. The fellowship focuses on climate change, sustainability, water, and energy-related storytelling—particularly those that highlight community-led, solution-oriented approaches.

Selected fellows will receive:

  • A €4,000 stipend
  • Mentorship by experienced editors
  • Full coverage of travel and accommodation related to reporting work

The fellowship runs for five months, from October 2025 to February 2026, and supports multimedia storytelling formats such as:

  • Written features
  • Photojournalism
  • Podcasts
  • Short-form videos

Who Can Apply?

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • Live in or originate from Southern or Eastern Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, or Türkiye)
  • Have less than 5 years of journalism experience
  • Are fluent in English, Arabic, French, Turkish, or Greek
  • Are ready to pitch a compelling story idea on climate or environmental themes
  • Have a strong interest in multimedia and solutions journalism

What Makes a Strong Application?

Applicants are expected to submit:
