About the KAUST Global Postdoctoral Fellowship

Applicants are expected to propose novel research ideas—not extensions of their PhD projects—and must secure the support of a KAUST faculty host.


Fellowship Benefits

Successful fellows will receive a comprehensive support package, including:

  • Annual stipend: US $75,000
  • Research budget: Up to US $40,000 over three years

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the KAUST Global Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a PhD awarded within the past four years (as of the start date, e.g. by January 2026).
  • All nationalities are welcome to apply.
  • Must secure a KAUST faculty host and submit a signed support letter.
  • Research must align with one or more of KAUST’s four strategic pillars.
  • Applicants must not hold concurrent full-time fellowships or positions.

Note: Former KAUST postdocs are eligible if their affiliation ended at least 12 months before the application deadline.

  • Application period: 1 July 2024 – 15 January 2025
  • Notification of selection: 3–4 months after deadline
  • Fellowship start date: Within 3–6 months of acceptance

Applicants must submit all materials via the KAUST PlutoEdu platform using official templates. Required documents include:

  • A detailed research proposal (independent and innovative)
  • A support letter from your KAUST host faculty
  • CV (maximum 4 pages)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Two published works (as writing samples)

All documents must be submitted in English, and incomplete applications will not be considered.
