About the Nature Canada Photo Contest 2025
Organised by Nature Canada, the country’s oldest national nature charity, the Nature Canada Photo Contest 2025 is an annual celebration of the breathtaking landscapes, wildlife, and natural moments that define Canada.
The contest aims to inspire Canadians to explore, appreciate, and document the country’s incredible biodiversity. Submitted photos will be judged based on originality, visual impact, and how well they capture the spirit of Canada’s outdoors.
Eligibility
The contest is open to all Canadian residents, including:
- Amateur photographers
- Professional photographers
- Youth participants
There are no limits to the number of entries per person.
Important Dates
Mark your calendar with the following key dates:
- 📅 Opening Date: 20 May 2025, at 9:00 a.m. EST
- 🛑 Submission Deadline: 10 August 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EST
- 🎁 Early Bird Draws:
- 1st draw: Entries submitted before 1 July 2025
- 2nd draw: All entries received by the final deadline
- 🗳 Public Voting Period: Mid-September to 28 September 2025
Submission Guidelines
Participants must submit their photographs online or through social media using the hashtag #NCPhotoContest25. All entries should include:
- The theme or category selected
- A brief story or description behind the photo
- Photographer category (Amateur, Professional, or Youth)
Accepted File Types
- PNG
- JPEG/JPG
- GIF
Each file must not exceed 10 MB in size.
There is no limit to the number of entries one can submit.
Prizes and Recognition
🏆 Grand Prize
- A gift certificate valued at ~CAD 1,895 from Black Feather Wilderness Adventure Company
- Can be used for a 2026 canoe or sea-kayak trip, such as:
- Georgian Bay
- French River
- Or another stunning wilderness route
🎖 Additional Rewards
- Top entries will receive national recognition
- Winning photos may be featured in Nature Canada’s 2026 calendar
- Early bird winners will receive exclusive bonus prizes
Judging & Photo Usage
Submissions will be evaluated by Nature Canada’s expert panel. Finalists will proceed to the public voting stage. Winners will be chosen based on the judges’ scores and community votes.
By entering, photographers grant Nature Canada the non-exclusive rights to copy, publish, adapt, and display their images to promote the contest. However, photographers retain full copyright of their work.
