    FirstRand IHE Delft Water Education Scholarship 2026

    The FirstRand IHE Delft Water Education Scholarship 2026 is a prestigious, fully funded postgraduate scholarship opportunity designed to support outstanding South African students pursuing advanced studies in water and sustainable development. The scholarship is offered by the FirstRand Foundation in partnership with the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands.

    This opportunity supports one exceptional candidate each year to undertake a Master of Science (MSc) degree focused on solving global and local water challenges through innovation, leadership, and sustainable development.


    About the FirstRand IHE Delft Water Education Scholarship 2026

    The FirstRand IHE Delft Water Education Scholarship 2026 aims to develop future water leaders who will contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s social, environmental, and economic development. Scholars are equipped with world-class technical knowledge and leadership skills to address complex water-related challenges upon returning home.

    The programme is hosted at the globally recognised IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, a leading centre for postgraduate education and research in water management.

    IHE Delft is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach to water education, combining science, policy, and practice to address real-world water issues.


    Programme of Study

    Successful applicants will study for an:

    • MSc in Water and Sustainable Development

    Candidates must apply for and be accepted into one of the following thematic tracks:

    • Water, Food and Energy
    • Water Hazards, Risks and Climate
    • Water and Health
    • Water Resources and Ecosystem Health

    Scholarship Coverage

    The scholarship provides full funding for the duration of the MSc programme. This includes comprehensive financial support to enable scholars to focus fully on their academic and leadership development while studying in the Netherlands.


    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Be a South African citizen
    • Demonstrate strong academic excellence
    • Show clear leadership potential
    • Have a record of community involvement or impact
