About the King Bhumibol World Soil Day Award 2025

The King Bhumibol World Soil Day Award 2025 is an annual honour initiated by the Global Soil Partnership and sponsored by the Kingdom of Thailand. The award commemorates His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and his lifelong commitment to sustainable soil management. It recognises individuals or institutions that successfully organise impactful World Soil Day (WSD) events aligned with the year’s theme.


Theme for 2024 Events

Eligible events must be based on the theme:
“Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor, Manage”
These events must have taken place between 1 November and 31 December 2024.


Award Benefits

Winners of the King Bhumibol World Soil Day Award 2025 will receive:

  • A commemorative medal
  • A US $15,000 cheque
  • An all-expenses-paid trip to Thailand to receive the award in person during a high-profile event around World Soil Day (5 December 2025)

Who Can Apply?

Both individuals and institutions are eligible to be nominated, provided they:

  • Hosted a successful World Soil Day event in late 2024
  • Focused on the official theme
  • Documented their activities with photos, videos, media coverage, and results

How to Submit a Nomination

To apply for the King Bhumibol World Soil Day Award 2025, candidates must be nominated through one of the following:

  • A National Focal Point of the Global Soil Partnership, or
  • A Permanent Representation to the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization)
