About the APRI Young Talent Program 2025

Hosted by the Africa Policy Research Institute (APRI), the Young Talent Program 2025 is designed to nurture and empower early-career professionals with practical experience in policy research, writing, advocacy, and programme support. The programme is structured to offer real-world exposure to the workings of a think tank, particularly in areas that directly affect African development.


What Participants Will Do

Participants in the programme will be fully immersed in APRI’s dynamic operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research, data analysis, and report writing
  • Assisting in the planning of high-level events such as conferences, webinars, and workshops
  • Supporting digital content creation (blogs, infographics, policy briefs, video content)
  • Providing administrative support such as scheduling, documentation, and grant reporting
  • Engaging in stakeholder communication and advocacy
  • Supporting monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management efforts

This is a unique opportunity to gain versatile experience across policy, communications, and strategic programming.


Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the APRI Young Talent Program 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Students based in Europe who are currently enrolled in a university
  • Graduates worldwide, including from African countries, who have recently completed a degree or are in a gap period between academic programmes
  • Availability to work within GMT+1 (Nigeria) or GMT+2 (Germany) time zones

Desired Profile

APRI seeks passionate, proactive candidates who are:

  • Excellent in research, writing, and analytical thinking
  • Experienced in data visualisation (desirable)
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken); knowledge of additional languages is an advantage
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and organised
  • Collaborative team players with strong interpersonal skills

Preferred: Applicants with a graduate degree and willingness to intern physically in APRI’s offices in Abuja, Nigeria or Berlin, Germany are strongly encouraged.
