About the KIWW World Water Challenge 2025
The KIWW World Water Challenge 2025 was first launched at the 7th World Water Forum and has since become a leading platform for sourcing practical water solutions worldwide. The challenge focuses on solving specific water problems with a blend of science, technology, and local relevance.
Winners will be selected based on feasibility, innovation, and sustainability, with successful applicants receiving both financial and institutional support to further their ideas.
Prizes and Benefits
Finalists of the KIWW World Water Challenge 2025 will receive a range of benefits, including:
- Invitation to the final round in Daegu, South Korea during Korea International Water Week (November 13–14, 2025).
- Fully funded travel and accommodation for selected finalists.
- Cash prizes:
- “THE BEST” Award: Up to 10,000,000 KRW (approx. $7,050)
- “OUTSTANDING” Award: Up to 3,000,000 KRW (approx. $2,100)

Who Can Apply?
The competition is open to:
- Individuals or organisations from anywhere in the world.
- Applicants with practical, innovative solutions to real-world water issues.
- Those submitting original ideas (multiple applications allowed, as long as each is distinct).
- Previous participants, provided they are submitting a new proposal.
All proposals must be submitted in English and include a graphical abstract (diagram, animation, or image) that clearly explains the idea.
Focus Areas
Proposals must align with at least one of the following thematic categories:
- Smart Water Technology – Innovative, tech-driven approaches to water resource management.
- Appropriate Technology – Cost-effective and community-driven solutions for water access and use.
- Environmental Preservation – Solutions that contribute to water ecosystem restoration and protection.
Timeline
- Application Deadline: 25 July 2025 (KST)
- Selection Period: 31 July – 4 September 2025
- Final Presentation & Awards: 13–14 November 2025, Daegu, South Korea
