This prestigious international award seeks to honor outstanding work that enhances society’s resilience to climate-induced extreme weather events or offers innovative solutions to adapt and thrive in a changing environment.

About the Allianz Climate Risk Award 2025

The Allianz Climate Risk Award 2025 aims to support researchers whose scientific contributions advance our understanding of climate-related risks or develop actionable solutions that support climate resilience. Sponsored by Allianz Re, this award highlights research that bridges the gap between academic insights and real-world impact.

The 2025 edition introduces an exciting new feature—the Allianz Trade Award, which complements the Climate Risk Award. Both awards follow the same structure and reward system.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must be:

  • PhD candidates or post-doctoral researchers
  • Recent PhD graduates (within two years of defense)
  • Actively engaged in research focused on:
    • Climate change-induced extreme weather risks
    • Technological or systemic solutions to build resilience

This opportunity is open to researchers globally.

Award Benefits

Winners of the Allianz Climate Risk Award 2025 will receive:

  • €7,000 for the grand prize winner
  • €3,000 each for the two runners-up
  • Feature publication in the Allianz Re Compendium (Top 10 shortlisted candidates)
  • Fully sponsored travel to Munich, Germany for the final pitch and award ceremony
  • Recognition and exposure to industry experts and policy influencers

Finalists will attend the in-person award ceremony in Munich on December 2, 2025.
