    Are you an early-career researcher passionate about climate, environment, and sustainability? The MOPGA Visiting Fellowship Program 2026 is an exceptional fully funded opportunity to advance your research in France while contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.

    This programme, initiated by the French Government under the “Make Our Planet Great Again” (MOPGA) initiative, aims to attract top international talent to collaborate with French institutions on high-impact research addressing pressing environmental challenges.


    About the MOPGA Visiting Fellowship Program 2026

    The MOPGA Visiting Fellowship Program 2026 supports international early-career researchers by offering them the chance to conduct innovative research projects in partnership with French universities and laboratories. The initiative is aligned with France’s commitments under the Paris Agreement and focuses on advancing knowledge in climate science, environmental sustainability, and related fields.


    Application Deadline

    • 12 December 2025

    Applicants are encouraged to begin preparations early, as the application process involves several supporting documents and endorsements from host institutions.


    Eligible Research Themes

    Applicants’ research projects must align with one of the following five thematic areas:

    1. Earth System Sciences
    2. Climate Change Sciences and Sustainability Science
    3. Energy Transition
    4. Societal Challenges Related to Environmental Issues
    5. Human, Animal and Environmental Health (One Health Approach)

    Projects that incorporate innovative approaches and advanced technologies are particularly encouraged.


    Fellowship Benefits

    Successful applicants will receive comprehensive financial and administrative support, including:

    • Monthly Allowance: €2,500
    • One-time Installation Grant: €500
    • Health Coverage:
      • Health insurance
      • Civil liability
      • Repatriation assistance
      • Complementary health coverage upon registration with French social security

    This support ensures fellows can focus fully on their research during their stay in France.


    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for the MOPGA Visiting Fellowship Program 2026, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Citizenship: Must be a non-French citizen.
    • Academic Qualification: Hold a doctoral degree awarded between December 2020 and December 2025 (i.e., within the last 5 years).
    • Residency: Must not have resided in France for more than 90 days between 12 September 2025 and 12 December 2025.

    Application Requirements

    Applicants will be required to submit a complete research proposal and supporting documentation.

    Research Project Materials

    • Title
    • Six keywords
    • Abstract
    • Context and objectives
    • Methodology and timeline
    • Link to MOPGA thematic areas
    • Expected impact and international collaboration plans

    Supporting Documents

    • CV (maximum 4 pages)
    • PhD diploma or proof of completion
    • CV of the host laboratory’s scientific advisor (maximum 2 pages)
    • Letter of support from the scientific advisor, co-signed by the lab director or accompanied by a commitment letter
    • Up to three letters of recommendation
    • Passport or ID proof

    👉 Applications can be submitted in English or French.
