The Asia Health Policy Program Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026-2027 at Stanford University’s Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) is now open for applications. This prestigious opportunity supports original research in health and healthcare policy, especially in low- and middle-income countries within Asia.


    About the Fellowship

    The Asia Health Policy Program Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026-2027 offers scholars a unique chance to conduct independent research at one of the world’s leading universities. Fellows are expected to produce high-quality, publishable research, actively participate in academic life at APARC, and contribute to advancing knowledge in health policy and systems across the Asia-Pacific.


    Fellowship Benefits

    • A 10-month appointment at Stanford University.
    • Competitive salary aligned with Stanford policy, with a base of USD $80,000 per year (pro-rated for 10 months).
    • An additional USD $3,000 research fund to support academic work.
    • Opportunity to work closely with experts in global health, policy, and governance.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must:

    • Hold a doctoral degree (PhD) awarded no more than 3 years before the start of the fellowship OR hold an MD degree awarded no more than 6 years before the start date.
    • Have their doctoral/MD degree conferred no later than June 30, 2026.
    • Demonstrate a strong research interest in health and healthcare policy in Asia, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries.

    Fellowship Requirements

    Selected fellows will be required to:

    • Be in residence at Stanford University during the fellowship period.
    • Present research findings at APARC seminars and workshops.
    • Participate actively in the publication and research programmes of the Center.

    Applicants must submit the following documents:

    1. Cover Letter – outlining interest and suitability for the fellowship.
    2. Curriculum Vitae (CV) – highlighting academic achievements and experience.
    3. Research Statement (maximum 5 pages, double-spaced) – detailing proposed research during the fellowship and the anticipated publishable outcome.
    4. Two Letters of Recommendation – sent directly by referees to the specified programme contact.
