    School of Collectively Building International Research Call 2025-2026

    The School of Collectively Building International Research Call 2025-2026 is now open for submissions! This exciting global initiative invites individuals, communities, and professionals from diverse international and interdisciplinary backgrounds to share their ideas and creative contributions through photography and research storytelling.

    If you are passionate about sustainability, climate action, and innovative practices—or concerned about issues of unsustainability—this is your chance to showcase your perspective and gain international recognition.


    About the Call

    The School of Collectively Building International Research Call 2025-2026 seeks original submissions that highlight either sustainability or unsustainability in everyday practices, projects, places, or landscapes.

    Participants are required to submit:

    • One original photograph that illustrates sustainability (what is sustainable) or unsustainability (what is not).
    • A 400-word explanation describing the subject and justifying why it is considered sustainable or unsustainable.

    This unique approach blends visual storytelling with critical reflection, encouraging fresh, international, and interdisciplinary contributions.


    Categories

    Applicants must select one of the two categories when submitting their work:

    1. Sustainable (C1)

    • Showcases sustainable practices, designs, or behaviours.
    • Can highlight materials, conservation efforts, architecture, or local actions that contribute to a greener and more resilient future.

    2. UnSustainable (C2)

    • Illustrates harmful or unsustainable practices.
    • Could include poor design, pollution, destruction of ecosystems, or climate-damaging behaviours.

    Benefits and Recognition

    Winners and shortlisted participants will gain international exposure and opportunities for publication:

    • Top 8 projects in each category will be exhibited and published.
    • Top 6 winners + 2 special mentions will be featured on the cover of a SOCB journal, special issue book, or magazine.

    This is a unique opportunity for your work to reach global audiences, scholars, and practitioners committed to sustainability research.


    Eligibility

    The call is open to everyone—students, communities, professionals, and organisations. There are no restrictions on nationality, age, or discipline.


    Application Process

    To apply, participants must:

    1. Register for the call to receive a registration receipt and a unique registration ID.
    2. Submit the following via the official email after registration:
      • One original photograph.
      • A 400-word written explanation.
      • Relevant project details.

    Deadline

    All submissions must be received by September 30, 2025.
