    Are you a journalist passionate about reporting on extractives, energy transition, and sustainable development? The Africa Extractives Media Fellowship 2025-2026 is now open for applications. This prestigious six-month programme offers early to mid-career journalists in Ghana a unique opportunity to strengthen their expertise in extractives reporting, receive mentorship, and connect with key stakeholders shaping the future of the sector.


    About the Africa Extractives Media Fellowship

    Organised by NewsWire Africa in partnership with leading institutions that promote transparency, sustainability, and good governance, the Africa Extractives Media Fellowship 2025-2026 is designed to build the capacity of journalists to report more effectively on the extractives sector, climate change, energy transition, and related issues.

    This fully in-person programme will take place in Accra, Ghana, from October 2025 to April 2026.


    What the Fellowship Offers

    Selected fellows will benefit from:

    • Expert-led training sessions to deepen their knowledge of the extractives industry and related global issues.
    • Mentorship from leading industry professionals.
    • Field reporting opportunities to produce impactful journalism.
    • Networking platforms with government, industry, and civil society stakeholders.

    Eligibility Criteria

    The fellowship is open to:

    • Early to mid-career journalists based in Ghana.
    • Journalists working across print, broadcast, digital, or multimedia platforms.
    • Applicants with a demonstrated interest in the extractives industry, climate change, energy transition, or sustainable development.
    • Women journalists are especially encouraged to apply, as part of efforts to promote gender inclusion in reporting on extractives.

    Fellowship Duration

    • October 2025 – April 2026
    • Location: Accra, Ghana
    • Format: Fully in-person

    The deadline to submit applications is 30 September 2025 at 23:59 GMT.
