    About the Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship Program

    The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship Program Spring 2026 is a full-time, six to nine-month fellowship based in Washington, DC. It is designed for recent college or graduate school alumni who aspire to build careers in peace and security policy.

    Fellows are placed in respected nonprofit, public-interest organisations where they actively contribute to advocacy, research, policy analysis, and campaigns that focus on reducing the risk of armed conflict and promoting global peace.


    Fellowship Benefits

    Selected fellows will receive:

    • Stipend: USD $4,283 per month
    • Health Insurance: Basic coverage provided
    • Travel Costs: Relocation to Washington, DC covered
    • Professional Development Fund: USD $1,200 for approved conferences, courses, and events
    • Mentorship and Networking: Opportunities to connect with board members, alumni, and leading policy experts in Washington, DC

    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree by the start of the fellowship.
    • Demonstrate a strong interest in peace and security issues, with prior experience in policy, activism, or advocacy highly desirable.
    • Show evidence of strong academic performance and excellent written/oral communication skills.
    • Citizenship and Visa Requirements:
      • U.S. citizens (in the U.S. or abroad) are eligible.
      • Non-U.S. citizens are only eligible if they currently reside in the United States and hold a valid U.S. work visa covering the entire fellowship period.
      • Non-U.S. citizens living outside the U.S. are not eligible.
