    Liveability Challenge 2026

    Deadline: February 6, 2026

The Liveability Challenge 2026 is now open for applications, offering a golden opportunity for innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs with groundbreaking solutions to urban sustainability challenges. Organised by Temasek Foundation in partnership with Eco-Business, this global platform seeks to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient future.

With up to S$2 million in funding available, the Liveability Challenge 2026 continues its mission of identifying, funding, and scaling the most impactful deep-tech and climate innovations from around the world.

    About the Liveability Challenge 2026

Since its inception, the Liveability Challenge has become one of Asia’s largest sustainability solution competitions, spotlighting bold ideas that can transform cities in the tropics and beyond.

In 2026, the challenge focuses on two core themes:

    1. Decarbonisation – Deep-tech, scalable solutions that reduce carbon emissions. Examples include renewable energy technologies, advanced energy efficiency models, and waste-to-resource innovations.
    2. Cool Earth – Innovative solutions that address climate-induced extreme weather and rising global temperatures. This includes urban heat mitigation, nature-based solutions, and climate adaptation measures.

    Funding and Prizes

The Liveability Challenge 2026 offers one of the largest funding pools globally for sustainability innovators:

    • S$1 million in grant funding for the top two solutions across either theme.
    • An additional up to S$2 million in development funding from A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research) for two outstanding decarbonisation solutions.

These investments aim to bring transformative ideas from concept to reality, enabling rapid scaling to meet pressing urban and environmental challenges.

    Who Can Apply?

The Liveability Challenge 2026 welcomes applications from around the world. Eligibility criteria include:

    • Applicants must be 18 years or older.
    • Applicants must not be employed by Temasek Foundation or Eco-Business.
    • Applicants must not be closely related to organisers or judges.

This ensures a transparent and competitive selection process.

    Application Timeline

    • Applications Open: 4 September 2025
    • Deadline: 9 February 2026, 23:59 (GMT +8)
    • Finale: Finalists will pitch their solutions live during Ecosperity Week 2026 in Singapore, showcasing their innovations to investors, industry leaders, and policymakers.

Why Apply to the Liveability Challenge 2026?

The Liveability Challenge is more than just funding – it is an ecosystem of support, mentorship, and global visibility. Winning or even being shortlisted can significantly boost your project’s credibility, attract new partners, and open doors to further investment.

If your innovation is scalable, impactful, and climate-relevant, this challenge is a unique opportunity to take it to the next level.
