    Deadline: November 7, 2025

The Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship 2026–2027 is now open for applications. This prestigious programme is designed to accelerate gender equality in STEM by supporting women from developing and emerging economies to pursue advanced research at leading international institutions.

Through this initiative, female researchers gain the opportunity to complete PhD or postdoctoral studies abroad, with the expectation that their expertise will later be reinvested into their home regions to advance science, education, and gender equity.

    Application Deadline

    • 7 November 2025

About the Faculty for the Future Fellowship

The Faculty for the Future Fellowship was established by the Schlumberger Foundation to provide financial support to women scientists and engineers. The fellowship seeks to enable women to overcome barriers in STEM and to return to their home countries as role models, mentors, and leaders in academia, policy, or entrepreneurship.

    Funding Details

    • Up to USD 50,000 per year for PhD students
    • Up to USD 40,000 per year for postdoctoral researchers

    • Fellowships are renewable until completion of the degree, based on:
      • Strong academic performance
      • Positive supervisor recommendations
      • A clear reintegration plan into the home country

    Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship 2026–2027, applicants must:

    • Be female citizens of a developing country or emerging economy where women are underrepresented in STEM.
      • Applicants with dual citizenship in a developed country are not eligible.
      • If developed-country citizenship is acquired after the award, the fellowship will be discontinued.
    • Be preparing for a PhD or postdoctoral research in a STEM field. (Master’s programmes are not eligible).
    • Have applied to, been admitted by, or be enrolled at a host university/research institute abroad.
      • Sandwich courses are allowed only if the degree is awarded abroad (or jointly).
    • Demonstrate an excellent academic record and prior teaching experience in the home country.
    • Show commitment to returning home to:
      • Contribute to academia, public policy, or STEM entrepreneurship
      • Promote gender equity in STEM
    • Exhibit leadership potential, community outreach experience, and a proven record of encouraging girls and women in STEM.

    Selection Criteria

Applications are assessed in multiple rounds, considering:

    • Academic performance and research excellence
    • Strength of references
    • Reputation of the host university

    • Relevance of research to the home country’s development needs
    • Demonstrated advocacy for women and girls in STEM

    Application Steps

    Applicants are encouraged to:

    1. Prepare supporting documents (transcripts, references, research proposal, proof of admission/enrolment, teaching/leadership evidence).
    2. Clearly outline their reintegration plan after studies.
