This pilot initiative, launched by the European Innovation Council (EIC) in partnership with the WIDERA programme, is designed to support innovative startups from Horizon Europe widening countries in scaling their groundbreaking technologies.


    About the EIC Pre-Accelerator 2025

    The EIC Pre-Accelerator 2025 is focused on helping early-stage deep-tech startups progress from Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4 to TRL 6. The programme aims to validate technologies, refine business models, and prepare startups for further funding through the EIC Accelerator or private investment.

    This programme provides both financial support and strategic acceleration, positioning startups to grow into competitive players in global innovation markets.


    Funding Information

    • Total Grant Amount: Up to €500,000
    • Funding Coverage: 70% of eligible costs

    Who Can Apply?

    To be eligible for the EIC Pre-Accelerator 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Be a “one-person SME” based in a Horizon Europe Widening country.
    • Develop a deep-tech innovation (physical, biological, or digital) with breakthrough potential to transform or create new markets.
    • Demonstrate a TRL of at least 4 at the time of application.
    • Hold the necessary intellectual property rights (IPR) for the technology.
    • Present a clear scaling vision and pathway to market readiness.

    Applications require the submission of a pitch deck (maximum 15 slides). This pitch deck should clearly highlight:

    • Your deep-tech innovation and its uniqueness
    • The TRL stage of your solution
    • Your IPR position
    • Your business and scaling vision
    • The potential market impact of your technology
