    TIMEP Bassem Sabry Fellowship 2025–2026

    The TIMEP Bassem Sabry Fellowship 2025–2026 is now open for applications! This prestigious programme, offered by the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP) in partnership with the Atlas Corps Fellowship at Cultural Vistas, honours the legacy of Egyptian political writer Bassem Sabry. It is designed to support young professionals committed to advancing democratic values, inclusivity, and policy change across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

    If you are a motivated professional from outside the U.S., under 35, and passionate about making a policy impact in MENA, this fellowship could be the perfect opportunity for you.


    Fellowship Overview

    • Host Organisation: Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP), in partnership with Atlas Corps at Cultural Vistas.
    • Location: Washington, D.C., USA.
    • Duration: 6 months, full-time (40 hours/week) – from 15 November 2025 to 15 May 2026.
    • Focus: Policy-relevant programming and analysis, advocacy, leadership training, and international engagement.

    The fellowship aims to give early-career professionals the opportunity to influence policy, gain leadership skills, and build networks that will help strengthen democratic and inclusive governance in their home countries.

      • Virtual and in-person orientations.

      • Monthly living stipend to cover meals, housing, and transportation.
      • A chance at a one-time post-fellowship stipend, upon completing graduation requirements.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for the TIMEP Bassem Sabry Fellowship 2025–2026, applicants must:

    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
    • Be an international candidate based outside the U.S..
    • Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application.
    • Commit to returning to their home country after the fellowship.
    • Have a valid passport extending at least six months beyond the programme end date.
    • Be fully proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking). Proficiency in Arabic is strongly recommended.
    • Possess a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
    • Demonstrate strong connections to civil society, grassroots organisations, or experts within MENA.
    • Show alignment with TIMEP’s mission and the democratic values upheld by Bassem Sabry.

    Application Requirements

    Applicants must prepare and submit the following documents:

    1. Resume/CV.
    2. One-page cover letter: Introduce yourself, explain your interest in the fellowship, and highlight how you embody Bassem Sabry’s values.
    3. Two-page Statement of Interest:
      • Propose a clear, policy-relevant mandate (with topic and focus country).
      • Explain why this mandate is important for the MENA region and policy stakeholders.
      • Describe how it aligns with TIMEP’s mission.
      • Specify which of TIMEP’s tools (analysis, advocacy, events, media, network-building, legal interventions) you intend to leverage.
    4. Three professional references.
    5. A copy of your bachelor’s diploma or official transcripts.
    6. (Optional) Documentation of English language proficiency.

    • Fellowship Duration: 15 November 2025 – 15 May 2026 (Washington, D.C., USA).
