    Deadline: November 15, 2025

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship 2026 is now open for applications. Offered by Zonta International, the prestigious fellowship supports women pursuing Ph.D. or doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and space sciences. With up to US$10,000 awarded to each recipient, the programme continues its mission to promote gender equity in aerospace – a sector where women remain underrepresented globally.

Since its inception in 1938, the Amelia Earhart Fellowship has helped over 1,800 women from more than 80 countries achieve their academic and research dreams. If you’re a woman in aerospace-related doctoral research, this is a unique opportunity to access global recognition, funding, and community.

    • Award Amount: Up to US$10,000
    • Number of Fellowships: Up to 30 annually
    • Deadline to Apply: 15 November 2025

The fellowship amount may be used to cover tuition, living expenses, research materials, or other doctoral-related costs.

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Fellowship is not open to postdoctoral researchers.
    • Open to women of all nationalities and universities worldwide.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong academic record and commitment to advancing knowledge in the aerospace field.

    Purpose and Impact

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship is named in honour of the legendary aviator Amelia Earhart, a trailblazer for women in aviation. The fellowship aims to:

    • Address the gender gap in aerospace and space sciences.
    • Provide financial support to women researchers in highly technical fields.
    • Encourage global academic and professional collaboration among women in aerospace.

Currently, women make up only about 25% of the global aerospace workforce, a disparity this fellowship seeks to challenge by empowering the next generation of women leaders in the field.
