    Are you a young African creative passionate about cultural heritage, storytelling, and artistic expression? The UNESCO Equation Nomad 2025 programme is now accepting applications from dynamic African youths aged 18 to 25. This unique opportunity offers a fully funded platform for young talents to explore, reinterpret, and present their cultural heritage through art.


    What is UNESCO Equation Nomad 2025?

    UNESCO Equation Nomad 2025 is a prestigious cultural initiative launched by UNESCO to empower young African artists to engage with their heritage and contribute to intercultural dialogue through creative expression. It invites youth to craft narratives that blend ancestral memory with contemporary art, culture, and identity.

    Participants will join a creative residency programme where they can experiment freely with different artistic forms—be it visual art, music, storytelling, dance, performance, fashion, or multimedia.

    This project is about connecting the past, present, and future through personal and collective cultural memory. It also creates a space for young creators to imagine a renewed cultural identity while building a shared future rooted in tradition and innovation.


    Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible for the UNESCO Equation Nomad 2025 programme, applicants must:

    • Be aged between 18 and 25 years old
    • Be a national and resident of an African country
    • Show a strong connection to and interest in their African cultural heritage
    • Be open to intercultural exchange and collaborative dialogue
    • Submit a creative idea or project that explores and celebrates cultural heritage

    Being part of a UNESCO Club or Network is not mandatory but may be advantageous.


    What Does the Programme Cover?

    Selected participants will benefit from a fully funded residency that includes:

    • Round-trip economy-class airfare
    • Accommodation throughout the programme
    • Meals and local transportation
    • Visa-related costs

    This ensures accessibility for creatives from all backgrounds, eliminating financial barriers to participation.


    Application Requirements

    Applicants must submit the following:

    1. A short personal statement (maximum 200 words) describing your relationship with your cultural heritage and your intended contribution to the programme
    2. Samples of creative work—this may include videos, digital portfolios, photography, sketches, performances, written pieces, etc.
    3. Contact information and your preferred communication method

    Deadline

    The deadline to apply for the UNESCO Equation Nomad 2025 programme is 11 July 2025. Late applications will not be considered.
