    Africa Business Heroes Competition 2026

    Deadline: April 28, 2026

The Africa Business Heroes Competition 2026 is now open for applications, offering African entrepreneurs the opportunity to access world-class mentorship, extensive media exposure, and a share of USD 1.5 million in grant funding. Organised by the Jack Ma Foundation, the competition continues to spotlight and support innovative business leaders across Africa who are driving positive change and economic growth within their communities.

About the Africa Business Heroes Competition 2026

The Africa Business Heroes (ABH) Competition 2026 is an annual flagship initiative created to empower African entrepreneurs by recognising, funding, and celebrating their impact. The programme is sector-agnostic, meaning that entrepreneurs from all industries are welcome to apply, provided their businesses operate primarily in Africa.

The mission of ABH is simple yet powerful: to inspire and support a new generation of African business leaders who are committed to building a more sustainable and inclusive future for the continent. Each year, ten outstanding entrepreneurs are selected as “Africa’s Business Heroes” and receive not only financial grants but also mentorship, exposure, and access to a dynamic pan-African community of innovators.

    Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Africa Business Heroes Competition 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Be a founder or co-founder of the business.
    • Be an African citizen or a direct descendant of an African citizen.
    • The business must be legally registered, headquartered, and operating in Africa.
    • The business should have at least three years of revenue and proven market traction.

The competition seeks passionate entrepreneurs who demonstrate resilience, innovation, and a strong commitment to making a lasting social and economic impact across Africa.

    Prize and Benefits

The Africa Business Heroes Competition 2026 offers USD 1.5 million in total grant funding, distributed among the top ten finalists. The prize structure is typically as follows:

    • 🥇 Top Winner: Up to $300,000
    • 🥈 First Runner-Up: Approximately $250,000
    • 🥉 Second Runner-Up: Approximately $150,000
    • 🏅 Other Finalists: Each receiving around $100,000
    • 💼 Training Fund: Additional funds may be allocated for entrepreneurial training programmes.

Beyond the financial rewards, participants gain access to invaluable opportunities, including:

    • Personalised mentorship from global business leaders and experts.
    • Extensive media exposure and branding opportunities across Africa.
    • Networking access with fellow entrepreneurs, investors, and industry stakeholders.
    • Specialised training programmes to enhance business skills and operational strategies.
    • Membership in a vibrant, pan-African entrepreneurial community supported by the Jack Ma Foundation.

    Competition Process

The ABH judging and selection process is rigorous and designed to identify the most promising and impactful entrepreneurs. The stages typically include:

    1. Online Application Review: Assessment of written applications.
    2. Video Interviews: Shortlisted candidates present their businesses virtually.
    3. Due Diligence: Verification and validation of business performance and impact.
    4. Semifinal Pitches: In-person presentations before regional judges.
    5. Grand Finale: The final top ten pitch live to a panel of world-class judges and a global audience.

This transparent and multi-stage process ensures that only the most dedicated and innovative entrepreneurs make it to the finals.

    Application Deadline

Applications for the Africa Business Heroes Competition 2026 close on 28 April 2026. Early submission is strongly encouraged to allow time for review and potential revisions before the deadline.

    How to Apply

Entrepreneurs who meet the eligibility requirements can submit their applications through the official ABH online portal. The process involves completing an online form, providing business details, and uploading supporting documentation such as financial summaries and proof of registration.

    Conclusion

The Africa Business Heroes Competition 2026 remains one of the most prestigious platforms for African entrepreneurs to gain recognition, funding, and mentorship. It’s more than a competition—it’s a transformative journey that empowers innovators to scale their businesses and amplify their impact across the continent.

If you’re an entrepreneur with a vision to transform Africa, this is your opportunity to become one of Africa’s next business heroes.
