Since its inception, the award has recognised the tireless efforts of grassroots conservationists who play an essential role in safeguarding Nepal’s natural heritage.

About the WWF Nepal Conservation Award 2026

The WWF Nepal Conservation Award 2026 is a prestigious recognition established by WWF Nepal to celebrate achievements in natural resource management and conservation. It highlights outstanding efforts that contribute to the preservation of Nepal’s rich biodiversity, encourage innovative environmental practices, and foster awareness within communities.

The award continues the legacy of the earlier Abraham Conservation Awards, upholding the tradition of recognising dedication and innovation in environmental protection across the nation.

    Focus Areas

Nominations are invited for exceptional work in one or more of the following areas:

    • Biodiversity Conservation: Forests, wildlife, freshwater ecosystems, and agrobiodiversity.
    • Climate Change: Mitigation and adaptation initiatives.
    • Sustainable Development: Eco-tourism, renewable energy, and green infrastructure projects.
    • Environmental Education and Youth Leadership: Promoting awareness and youth participation in conservation.
    • Environmental Crime and Pollution Control: Efforts to combat illegal exploitation of natural resources and reduce pollution.
    • Media and Environmental Journalism: Contributions that raise awareness and inspire action for conservation.

    Award Benefits

Recipients of the WWF Nepal Conservation Award 2026 will receive:

    • Individuals: NPR 50,000 and an official citation.
    • Organisations: NPR 100,000 and an official citation.

These awards serve not only as financial recognition but also as motivation for continued commitment to environmental stewardship.

    Eligibility Criteria

    The award is open to:

    • Nepali citizens actively involved in conservation or natural resource management.
    • Registered organisations in Nepal working within the award’s focus areas.

Nominees must demonstrate tangible achievements, long-term commitment, and innovative approaches to environmental protection and sustainability.

    Application Process

Eligible individuals and organisations can submit nominations through the official online application form. Applicants should provide detailed documentation of their achievements, initiatives, and impact in conservation or sustainable development.

    Deadline

The deadline for submitting nominations is 30 March 2026. Late submissions will not be considered, so applicants are encouraged to complete their applications well before the closing date.

Continuing a Legacy of Conservation Excellence

For decades, WWF Nepal has worked closely with local communities, conservationists, and institutions to protect the country’s extraordinary biodiversity.
