    Max Thabiso Edkins Youth Ambassador Program 2026

    The Max Thabiso Edkins Youth Ambassador Program 2026 is a prestigious global youth leadership opportunity designed to equip young people with the skills, networks and real-world experience needed to tackle today’s most pressing global development challenges.

    Delivered by the World Bank Youth2Youth (Y2Y) Community in partnership with Connect4Climate (C4C), this six-month programme brings together passionate young changemakers from around the world to contribute to sustainable growth, job creation and inclusive development.


    About the Max Thabiso Edkins Youth Ambassador Program 2026

    The Max Thabiso Edkins Youth Ambassador Program 2026 is a structured six-month global leadership initiative that empowers young people to actively engage in global development efforts. Participants will work alongside peers, experts and institutions to develop innovative solutions that support sustainability, green jobs and inclusive economic growth.

    The programme honours the legacy of Max Thabiso Edkins by fostering youth leadership, collaboration and impact across diverse regions and sectors.


    Programme Duration and Format

    • Duration: Six (6) months
    • Format: Virtual, global engagement
    • Community: World Bank Youth2Youth (Y2Y) Community
    • Partners: Connect4Climate (C4C)

    Throughout the programme, youth ambassadors will participate in learning sessions, campaigns, collaborative projects and global dialogues focused on development and sustainability.


    Who Can Apply

    Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Be between 20 and 30 years old
    • Be currently studying, transitioning into the labour market, or actively building a career
    • Demonstrate a strong interest in sustainability, green jobs and community development
    • Be curious, motivated and eager to learn
    • Be committed to collaboration with young people across different regions and backgrounds

    The programme welcomes applicants from all countries and diverse academic or professional backgrounds.


    Key Focus Areas

    Participants will gain exposure to critical global development sectors, including:

    • Energy and climate action
    • Water and environmental sustainability
    • Agribusiness and food systems
    • Gender equality and women’s empowerment
    • Health and social development
    • Tourism and creative industries
    • Digital innovation and future skills

    All focus areas are aligned with sustainable development goals and emerging global job markets.


    What Selected Youth Ambassadors Will Gain

    Successful applicants will benefit from:

    • Expert-led learning opportunities across key development sectors
    • Hands-on engagement in global development campaigns such as Health Works, Mission300, Empowering Women and AgriConnect
    • Global networking with youth leaders, professionals and institutions

    Selection Criteria

    Applications are assessed based on:

    • Academic or professional background
    • Demonstrated interest in sustainability and development-related fields
    • Motivation, mindset and readiness to collaborate
    • Enthusiasm for community impact and global engagement

    Applicants are encouraged to clearly articulate their interests, experiences and commitment to positive change.
