    The World Bank Group Pioneers Internship Program is a structured and immersive professional experience that allows participants to contribute meaningfully to the World Bank Group’s mission of reducing poverty and promoting shared prosperity. Interns work closely with experienced professionals across multiple sectors and gain practical insights into how development programmes are designed, implemented, and evaluated at a global scale.


    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements:

    Undergraduate Track

    • Final-year undergraduate students pursuing a bachelor’s degree

    Postgraduate Track

    • Students currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme

    Additional Requirements

    • Applicants may have 0 to 6 years of professional experience
    • Strong computing and technical skills are considered an advantage
    • Open to candidates of all nationalities
    • Open to applicants from all academic disciplines

    Fields and Areas of Work

    Interns may be placed across a wide range of development and corporate functions, including but not limited to:

    • Economics and development finance
    • Public health, education, and nutrition
    • Environment, agriculture, and climate action
    • Urban development and infrastructure
    • Energy and digital development
    • Private sector development
    • Corporate services such as Human Resources, Finance, IT, and Communications

    Placements are determined based on organisational needs and candidate profiles.


    Internship Responsibilities

    Participants in the programme will:

    • Contribute to ongoing World Bank Group projects
    • Support research, data analysis, and operational activities
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
    • Assist in policy analysis and programme implementation
    • Gain exposure to global development strategies and decision-making processes
    • Develop practical, professional, and analytical skills relevant to international development careers
