    AIDS Prevention Ambassador Fellowship 2026

    The AIDS Prevention Ambassador Fellowship 2026 is a prestigious, competitive fellowship designed to support digital content creators, advocates, and community leaders who are advancing HIV prevention awareness, education, and advocacy globally.

    Organised in connection with AIDS 2026 – the 26th International AIDS Conference, the fellowship empowers selected ambassadors to strengthen their advocacy impact, expand their networks, and engage directly with the latest HIV prevention science, policy, and community-led innovations.

    This opportunity offers both financial and professional support, including full participation in AIDS 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, alongside global visibility for impactful HIV prevention messaging.


    About the AIDS Prevention Ambassador Fellowship 2026

    The AIDS Prevention Ambassador Fellowship 2026 supports individuals who use digital platforms and community engagement to communicate evidence-based, rights-affirming HIV prevention information.

    Fellows will develop and implement two digital communication projects:

    • One before the conference
    • One during AIDS 2026

    These projects will contribute to global conversations on HIV prevention under the conference theme “Rethink. Rebuild. Rise.”


    Conference Details

    • Event: AIDS 2026 – 26th International AIDS Conference
    • Dates: 26 – 31 July 2026
    • Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
    • Participation: In-person (with virtual engagement components)

    Who Can Apply

    Applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Be 18 years or older
    • Demonstrate a strong track record in HIV prevention advocacy or communication
    • Create content related to HIV prevention topics such as:
      • PrEP and PEP
      • Harm reduction
      • U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable)
      • Long-acting HIV prevention
      • Policy and rights-based advocacy
    • Have an established digital or community reach (e.g. at least 5,000 followers across platforms or proven offline engagement)
    • Commit to non-stigmatizing, inclusive, evidence-based messaging
    • Be available for virtual onboarding and the full duration of AIDS 2026

    Priority Consideration

    Preference is given to applicants who are:

    • From low- and middle-income countries
    • Members of key and priority populations, including:
      • People living with HIV
      • Men who have sex with men
      • Trans and gender-diverse communities
      • Sex workers
      • People who inject drugs
      • Adolescent girls and young women
      • Migrants and displaced populations
    • Actively engaged with community-led organisations

    Fellowship Benefits

    Selected fellows will receive comprehensive support, including:

    • Up to USD 500 for a digital HIV prevention project before AIDS 2026
    • Up to USD 500 for digital content creation during the conference
    • Full sponsorship to attend AIDS 2026, including:
      • International travel
      • Accommodation
      • Per diem
      • Local transportation
      • Visa support (where applicable)
    • Opportunities to:
      • Network with global HIV researchers, policymakers, and activists
      • Participate in professional development sessions
      • Gain international visibility for advocacy work

    Application Requirements

    Applicants will be required to submit:

    • Personal and demographic information
    • A statement of motivation and relevant experience
    • A description of two proposed digital communication projects (pre-conference and during the conference)
    • A CV or portfolio demonstrating previous HIV prevention or advocacy work
    • Evidence of audience reach and engagement
    • A letter of support or reference (from an organisation, employer, or professional referee)

    • 15 February 2026
    • Applications close at 23:00 CET
