    The World Bank Group ICSID Internships 2026 present an exceptional opportunity for graduate-level students with a strong interest in international investment law and investor-State dispute settlement. Hosted by the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), this internship programme allows selected candidates to gain hands-on experience within a leading global institution at the heart of international arbitration.

    About the World Bank Group ICSID Internships 2026

    The World Bank Group ICSID Internships 2026 are offered by the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, a member of the World Bank Group. ICSID plays a central role in the settlement of international investment disputes between States and foreign investors.

    Interns work closely with experienced professionals, supporting case management, legal research, and institutional initiatives related to international arbitration and investment law.


    Internship Location

    • Washington, D.C., United States
    • Internships are primarily conducted at ICSID Headquarters, subject to any applicable restrictions.

    Internship Duration and Structure

    • Minimum duration: 12 weeks
    • Minimum commitment: 10 hours per week
    • Internship cycles available:
      • September – December
      • January – April
      • May – August
    • Number of positions: Up to six interns per four-month cycle

    Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible for the World Bank Group ICSID Internships 2026, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

    • Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme, such as:
      • LLM
      • PhD
      • Third-year law degree (3L) or equivalent
    • Provide written confirmation from their university showing one of the following:
      • Academic credit will be awarded for the internship, or
      • A university-sponsored stipend will be provided
    • Be legally authorised to work in the United States, including:
      • U.S. citizens or permanent residents (Green Card holders), or
      • Students eligible for an F-1 or G-4 visa
    • Meet any additional internship requirements set by their academic institution
    • Demonstrate a strong interest and foundational knowledge in:
      • Investor-State dispute settlement
      • International investment law
    • Possess excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
    • Be fluent in English (knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage)

    Key Responsibilities

    Interns at ICSID may be involved in a variety of professional activities, including:

    • Supporting case management teams
    • Conducting legal and policy research
    • Assisting with drafting and documentation
    • Contributing to institutional and administrative projects
    • Supporting work related to international arbitration proceedings

    Financial and Practical Considerations

    • Interns are responsible for:
      • Travel costs
      • Accommodation
      • Living expenses in Washington, D.C.
    • Interns are advised to arrange appropriate medical insurance for the duration of the internship.

    • 15 February 2026
