    The 2026 GCSP Prize for Transformative Futures in Peace and Security is an international award designed to identify, recognise and support bold, forward-thinking ideas that can fundamentally reshape how global peace and security challenges are addressed.

    Hosted by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), this prestigious prize seeks innovative concepts with the potential to deliver long-term, global impact beyond national boundaries. The initiative forms part of GCSP’s broader commitment to fostering creativity, foresight and practical innovation in the peace and security ecosystem.


    About the 2026 GCSP Prize for Transformative Futures in Peace and Security

    The 2026 GCSP Prize for Transformative Futures in Peace and Security recognises original and disruptive ideas that challenge conventional thinking and propose new pathways for addressing complex global security issues.

    First introduced in 2023, the prize continues to serve as a platform for visionaries, innovators and institutions whose concepts can meaningfully contribute to a more peaceful, secure and resilient world.

    Selected concepts are evaluated based on their originality, feasibility, scalability and potential to generate transformative impact at a global level.

    • Application Deadline: 20 March 2026 (23:59 UTC+1)
    • Announcement of Winners: May 2026

    Early preparation is strongly encouraged to ensure submissions are comprehensive and compelling.


    Who Can Apply

    Applications are open to a broad and diverse pool of applicants, including:

    • Individuals
    • Teams
    • Organisations from both the public and private sectors

    Applicants may be based in any country. However, submitted concepts must demonstrate relevance, applicability or impact that extends beyond a single national context.


    Eligible Themes and Focus Areas

    The prize welcomes concepts that address peace and security challenges across a wide range of domains. These include, but are not limited to:

    • Transformative and emerging technologies
    • Climate change and environmental security
    • Cybersecurity and digital threats

    • Education, foresight and peacebuilding
    • Arms control and disarmament

    Proposals are expected to demonstrate strong originality, future-oriented thinking and the capacity to influence peace and security dynamics on a global scale.


    Prizes and Benefits

    First Prize

    • A fully funded two-month incubation programme at GCSP’s Creative Spark in Geneva
    • Programme value of CHF 15,000
    • A trophy and certificate of excellence

    The incubation programme provides mentorship, strategic guidance, access to expert networks and a structured environment to help refine and advance the winning concept.

    Additional Recognitions

    • Second and Third Place: Certificates of recognition
    • Two Honourable Mentions: Certificates of honourable mention

    Application Requirements

    Applicants are required to submit their proposals in English via the official online application platform.

    A complete application typically includes:

    • A concise project abstract
    • A detailed concept description
    • A technical or process explanation, where relevant
    • An estimated budget
    • A clear explanation of the novelty and innovation of the idea
    • Short-term and long-term impact statements
    • Optional supporting visuals or images

    All submissions must be completed and submitted before the stated deadline.
