This prestigious fellowship offers international scholars the opportunity to pursue independent research related to the political dimensions of inequality while actively engaging with a world-class academic community.


    About the Fellowship

    The Cluster of Excellence “The Politics of Inequality” Visiting Fellowship 2026 is designed for scholars from around the world who wish to explore how inequalities arise, are perceived, and influence political processes and outcomes. The programme connects social scientists and experts from related disciplines in a vibrant research environment that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration.

    Fellows are encouraged to participate actively in the Cluster’s research activities by presenting their work, joining discussions, and collaborating with faculty and other visiting fellows. The fellowship aims to advance high-quality research and foster innovative perspectives on inequality in politics and society.


    Fellowship Duration

    • Fellowship duration: 2–6 months
    • Period: October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2027

    Fellows can choose their preferred stay within this timeframe depending on the scope and requirements of their proposed project.


    Funding and Support

    Selected fellows will receive comprehensive financial support to conduct their research during their stay in Konstanz. The funding package includes:

    • €6,000 per month as a living and accommodation allowance
    • Up to €1,500 per month research allowance (for travel, research assistance, events, or materials)
    • Relocation support to and from Konstanz (within specified limits)

    This generous funding ensures that researchers can fully focus on their academic work and collaboration within the Cluster’s network.


    Eligibility Criteria

    The fellowship is open to internationally recognized scholars who are not affiliated with the University of Konstanz. Applicants should have:

    • A strong track record of research excellence and international visibility
    • A project that aligns with the Cluster’s focus on the politics of inequality
    • Expertise in relevant fields such as political science, sociology, economics, or related disciplines

    Scholars at different career stages are welcome to apply, provided their research contributes meaningfully to the Cluster’s core themes.


    Application Process

    Interested candidates are required to submit their applications through the University of Konstanz’s official online portal. The complete application should include:

    1. Completed application form with project information
    2. Research proposal (maximum 4 pages) detailing project aims, duration (2–6 months), methodology, and intended use of research funds
    3. Curriculum Vitae (CV) outlining academic experience and achievements
    4. List of publications highlighting significant works
