    NYCEDC Summer Internship Program 2026

    The NYCEDC Summer Internship Program 2026 offers an outstanding opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in urban development, economic policy, project management and citywide innovation. This paid, 10-week programme places interns within key departments across the organisation, providing meaningful exposure to the projects shaping New York City. The NYCEDC Summer Internship Program 2026 is designed to develop future leaders through practical work, mentorship and structured professional development sessions.


    About the Opportunity

    The programme is a paid, full-time, 10-week summer internship designed to immerse participants in real projects that impact New York City’s growth and development. Interns are assigned to one of the organisation’s diverse departments, where they contribute to ongoing initiatives across areas such as:

    • Urban planning
    • Research and policy
    • Spatial and financial analysis
    • Energy data dashboards
    • Real estate and project management
    • Operational support

    Each intern is supported by a manager—often a former intern—ensuring guided learning and professional development throughout the programme.


    Eligibility

    Applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Open to undergraduate students, graduate students and recent graduates.
    • International students are eligible to apply with valid work authorisation, including:
      • F-1 visa holders
      • CPT
      • OPT
      • STEM-OPT

    • A Cover Letter
    • Additional supporting documents may be requested depending on the department, such as:
      • Writing samples
      • Work portfolios
      • Analytical samples

    Timeline / Key Dates

    • Applications Opened: Mid-November 2025
    • Application Deadline: 2 January 2026
    • Recruiter Interviews: Mid-January 2026
    • Departmental Interviews: Mid-February 2026
    • Offer Release: Late February 2026
    • Programme Duration: June 2026 – August 2026

    Selection Process

    The selection process includes:

    1. Initial Application Review

    4. Final Selection and Offer (late February)

    Successful candidates receive placement details, onboarding instructions and department-level orientation.


    Additional Information / Terms

    • This is a full-time, paid internship requiring commitment throughout the 10-week programme.
    • Interns must have valid work authorisation for the entire internship period.
    • Placement depends on departmental needs, the applicant’s skills and the availability of suitable projects.
    • Roles vary across finance, energy, real estate, strategy, research, design, operations and more.
