    The Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) 2026–2027 offer a fully-funded opportunity for students from Commonwealth countries to pursue a two-year Master’s degree in selected low- and middle-income Commonwealth nations. The programme supports individuals who are committed to creating positive change within their communities. QECS provides not only academic advancement but also an environment that fosters cross-cultural exchange and international collaboration. This edition of the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) 2026–2027 is designed to empower emerging leaders through high-quality postgraduate study.


    About the Opportunity

    The QECS programme provides fully-funded Master’s degree scholarships for study in low- or middle-income Commonwealth countries. Scholars receive comprehensive support that ensures they can focus exclusively on their academic and community development goals. The scholarship seeks applicants who show strong academic potential, leadership qualities, and a clear commitment to community impact.

    Key components of the scholarship include:

    • Fully covered tuition fees
    • Living allowance (stipend) throughout the programme
    • Return economy flights to the host country
    • One-off arrival allowance
    • Access to a Research Support Grant (available on request and subject to approval)

    The scholarship creates a platform for scholars to contribute to global knowledge, build networks, and immerse themselves in diverse cultural and academic environments.


    Eligibility

    Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Be a citizen of a Commonwealth country or hold recognised refugee status in a Commonwealth nation
    • Apply to study in a country different from their home country or country of citizenship
    • Possess an undergraduate degree with a minimum of 2:1 (or equivalent)
    • There is no upper age limit
    • Refugee applicants must apply as citizens of the country that granted their refugee status

    The QECS 2026–2027 scholarship provides a comprehensive funding package that includes:

    • Full tuition coverage
    • Monthly living stipend
    • Return economy airfare
    • One-time arrival allowance upon entering the host country
    • Option to request additional research support funding

    Application Requirements

    Applicants must:

    1. Select a host university and Master’s programme from the official list of eligible institutions.
    2. Prepare a strong and clearly articulated Plan of Study, explaining the rationale for choosing the course and university.
    3. Submit an application through the QECS online portal.
    4. Provide academic references, transcripts, and all required supporting documents.

    Timeline / Key Dates

    • Application Deadline: 14 January 2026
    • QECS operates two application cycles each year:
      • First cycle: November/December
      • Second cycle: March/April

    Applicants may apply once per cycle and may reapply in subsequent cycles for placements in different host countries.

    Selection is based on:

    • Academic performance and references
    • Quality and clarity of the Plan of Study
    • Demonstrated potential for development impact in the applicant’s home community
    • Ability to contribute to community and academic networks
